I have an 03 Ex V10. Thinking about upgrading the muffler to get some more noise. Looking at FM 10, 40, 50. Anyone have experience with each with the V10 and the sound quality/interior drone.
I don’t have any firsthand experience with Flowmasters behind a V-10 but I do like how the Aeroturbine (Jones muffler) 3030XL sounds. The XL denotes a built in resonator while the 3030 has no resonator and is much louder, which with the V-10 can get kind of raspy, definitely not a V-8 sound.
Here is a video of my EX with the factory muffler vs the 3030XL.
We have a Flowmaster 50 Series, now. After the addition of Banks headers it has a deeper growl to it.
Started out with a Magnaflow 12259 that was a straight through design. It was great for embarrassing my kids when I would pick them up from the movie theater. I’d ride up next to the front and rev that 6.8. It was as loud as any high school hot rod. Too loud for the kids and the wife.
Now, very happy with the 50 Series.
I have a Magnaflow muffler on my v10 with the cat removed. it’s not bad just driving around, however it can get loud if I get into the throttle. I really like the sound that the Magnaflow puts out.
