I have a 70 series. It has a really nice tone and its deep. It would be a good muffler for someone who wants a deep tone and not really loud. But thats what i don't like about this muffler is that it isnt loud enough.
A little louder than stock would be okay, but not much. I take a lot of long drives for dirt bike trips. The V10 has a hypnotic "hum" with the stock muffler already.
Sounds like the 50 series might be right. Is there a 60?
Also, did any of you guys have the annoying buzz from what sounds like a heatshield? I would be curious to hear how you solved the problem.
If you want the same sounding truck as everyone else, then install a toadmaster. If you are looking for great sound, and better performance Ulra-flo round, or the Ultr-flo bullet should not be overlooked. The straight through design out flows any chambered muffler, and the sound is second to none, especially on the already funny sounding
V-10.
I would go with the 70 if you do lots of long trips. The next step louder is a 50 series, there is nothing inbetween that I know of. I'm going to try to do mine next weekend if it stops snowing. I'm going with the atleast the 40 because I'm young lol. 75F350: Do you have either of the two that you mentioned? Do they really sound good? No ricer sound? I'm looking for something loud, but not ricey. You might sway me in another direction!
No ricers. I hate the rice sound, and would not run them on any of my rigs. I run the Ultr-flo round on two of my V-10's, and the bullet on the Excursion. I like the deeper tone of the round muffler, but the bullet has a tone all of it's own. I believe there are some sound clips that can be found on this site under the exhaust section. We had a discussion on this same thing a month or so ago. I did have a flowmaster once upon a time. I was not displeased with the sound, just that everyone has them, and I like having my own. Eventually more people will have the ultr-flo, for now I have my own sound in my area. I was also impressed with the extra flow numbeers of the Ultra-flow mufflers. I did put all of them on a flow bench, and was not too impressed with the Flowmaster. Funny how they can call it a flowmaster, when it really is not.
Oh well, guess that is the way it goes.
75F350...can you direct me to the "Round Muffler you're talking about? I found the bullet, and the standard chaber-style mufflers. Nothing described as round though.
That is the one.
That one is not as loud as the bullet, and has a slightly deeper tone. Been on the trucks for a few years now with zero problems.
By the way, I also run a full tailpipe. Dont like the reverbs inside of the cab without it. Think it sounds better too.
