Sizing spring clamps
Replacing the worm gear clamp on the radiator hose with spring clamps, back to the way it originally. The question is what size, the diameter of the hose is 2.2" but I assume I size the clamp to the diameter of radiator outlet?

The spring type clamps (aka constant tension clamps) are sized similarly to worm drive clamps - they have a range of effective clamping diameter for a given size of clamp.
The size of the hose should be about in the middle of the clamping range. Example - if the hose OD is 2.0 inches, you’d need a clamp with a range of at least 1.75 to 2.25 inches.
