Universal cats?
We bought a 99 SD 250 V10. The PO installed a Magnaflo 3" 94109 cat. It's small and the GVW is 6000. I talked to M/F today and the guy said the only "universal" cat is 52228. Its literally twice the size and designed for 8500GVW + vehicles. I have no interest in removing the cat, but wonder if this little thing is gonna causse any ill effects if its run for the next 20K miles or so. I dont a lot of towing, just some hay hauling at a max of 1500 lbs.

I highly doubt the OEM cat is available so aftermarket is your only option. Personally I would not use a universal catalytic converter on any vehicle. Rock Auto should have direct bolt-ins available.
