Very good to hear the IPR valve got 'er going. Your perseverance with the issue paid off. I'll graph that file and we can see the results of your work there on that rig.

You're right, that nut, one of two, likely holds the plastic cover in place over the HPOP reservoir.

@KubotaOrange76 this pic is from one of your rigs. I don't have these big nuts anymore.

Once you clean that valley of oil again, try putting paper towels in there and taking a short drive, or just let it idle for a while, and see what towel gets oil first. Oil leaks towards the front of the engine can be HPOP related, towards the rear can be turbo pedestal/wastegate actuator related.

Good discussion on valley oil/fuel leaks here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...of-engine.html

That day 3 data looks good. We can see the first start after IPR valve installed, as it purges air. It goes from rough ICP/IPR and FUELPW to smooth and normal. The rest of the data looks normal too.

Plug engine harness back in, no restart.
Easier to slap a different PCM in than to check wiring. Started and ran.
Plugged original PCM in, no restart again.
Swapped tester PCM back in and drove it all day........

Easy <10 minute diagnosis.

I have replaced two IPR drivers in 99-up PCMs over the years from being dead. I haven't done a 94-97 though (have one on the shelf) because it's a really special part vs. the newer ones that are Digi-Key standard parts.
Thank you for sharing

I'm afraid to see what another 20 years of weather and vibrations brings us with the increasing amount of computers integrated into vehicles starting in mid 2000's. Just saw video the other day where 460 pcm with bad capacitor was causing timing issues.

I would like to thank all of you for the assistance with getting this sorted. I would have lost my mind and even more money chasing after random red herrings. Quite a learning experience nonetheless!

Good idea with the paper towels in the valley, that will probably be near the top of my list so I can stop leaving an oil slick everywhere I go.

yeah my head unit is rather small as well and after 20 years of being together it no longer works properly…. Thought about sending it out and getting it slutted up just a little bit but you know how it is…. No telling what shape it will return in 🤪🤪🤪
