I have been having a small issue lately that became major today.Lately when I would start the truck in the morning and drive off it would go about 1 or 2 miles and then have 1 miss.If driving down the road it was like you turned the key off and on real quick. If fired up and let idle in the morning it would run a couple of minutes then die afterwards starting right back up.This was only happening on the first startup of the day.
Well today on my way home from work I got about 2 miles from work and it started loosing power. It finally got so bad I put it in nuetral and coasted off the road where it died.I also notice grayish white smoke when it started lossing power before it died. When I got to the side of the road it wouldn't start. It would turn over fine and felt like it really wanted to start but wouldnt. After a few attemps I got out looked under the hood.I couldnt see anything wrong but figured maybe fuel ,since I ran it down till the low fuel light came on which is something I rarely do.I opened the drain and let out about a quart.I looked at it but couldn't see any water or anything out of the ordinary. After this I climbed back in the truck and tried staring it again. After 2 failed attemps it started a ran rough for about 2 to 3 seconds I gave it some throtlle and it had no respose.I hit the throttle again and it reved right up and drove home fine ,but it seemed like the injectors were louder than before.
I came home and went and got a fuel filter changed it and went and put some fuel in it.The injectors quieted right down and it ran fine.It got dark on me before I could run AE on it.
Any ideas?I dont know if the miss I have been feeling and the stalling are from the same thing and am not really sure what a cps does when it goes.
Sorry this is so long but I was trying to explain everything I remember.
Check for codes, check the engine oil level, and report back. CPS is usually an on/off, or stutter type of issue, not really a low on power thing since the PCM is either receiving the signal or not.
I am wondering if I have 2 problems.1 being the cps, when the truck would have the bad miss lately and the other being so low on fuel it got some air in the sytem, when it lost power an finally died.I will check it for codes tomorrow and see what I get. Will the cps throw a code?I checked the oil when I changed the fuel filter and it was fine oil is about 2000 miles old.
Haven't got the intanks done yet .To many hours at work lately,60 to 70 a week. But thats kinda what I was talking about for the lose of power and then dieing.I should have some time today to get out there and put the AE on it
Ok sorry about not getting back quicker.Haven't had a chance to check for codes yet.Filled up and drove it over 200 miles.I could actually here the injectors get quieter after filling it.No more power loss nothing abnormal except it still sputtered on me today a couple of miles from my house .Just real quick like someone turned off the switch and then back on.I did notice that when it did this the tack went straight down to 0 then right back up.I have been carrying 3 black used cps's I got off ebay.Think I should change it out and see what happenes or wait to check it with AE?
Maybe but I am not thinking so .When I first got the truck I had the uvch problems and cleaned the plugs out real well and glued them together. When I had that problem it would run real rough not just sputter once. The times when this has happened at home just idleing it will start right back up.
The same happened to me . my problem was the fuel injector wiring harness located under the valve covers . the factory design was poor . my drivers side simply came loose . International has an improved one . @ the time I couldn't wait for it to be shipped , so I zip tied into place . I have also recently swaped my cps for the international one . night and day . A local dealership in baltimore has them . I do not want to break any rules or cut someones action , but I can have one to door for just under $140.00 .

Are you talking about the CPS? You can get those at Intl. for $23.17 I believe is what I paid for mine.
