Tilt column swap

I have done a quick search and haven't came up with a yes or no answer. Can I swap a tilt column from a early 80's F-150 into a 78/79 F-250? If so what would it require?
Thanks in advance.

I don't think so. The steering box was moved ahead of the engine crossmember in 80 so the shaft will be longer. Not sure if you can shorten it easily at the joint in the eng compartment. The turn signal switches and tilt mechanism parts will interchange from 78-86, though.

The '78-'79 tilt column will bolt right into your '78... wire colors may vary, but that's no big deal with a diagram.
