tilt column conversion/auto/MT

tilt column conversion/auto/MT
I currently have a '76 f250 MT standard column. If I were to locate a tilt column from a '78/'79 f250 with automatic trans. Is it possible to remove the tilt mechanism from the donor column and convert my MT standard column to tilt?
I have searched the archives on this subject, forgive me if I missed a previous answer on this subject.
I am planning on swapping out my D44 and power assist steering to a '78 D60 with the integral steering at the same time. I realize in doing this I prob have to replace the shaft between column and steering box,along with some frame mod and fabrication. I don't know if this matters, just wanted to include info as it might pertain to my tilt question.
