Wiring

On a 239 set to 12V, the main wire comes out of the center of the coil to the distributor, my question is it shows another wire coming off of the negative post of the coil and it shows going to the distributor also. Where does the wire from the negative post of the coil connect?

To the insulated connector on the points. This is also where the wire that comes off the condenser is connected. Also on the breaker plate make sure the ground strap is tightly connected to the breaker plate and the screw under the breaker plates. If that's loose, it will drive you nuts trying to track down why your engine is dying under various throttle positions.

The coil has three terminals - a high tension to the distributor cap; a negative terminal that goes to the switched ground points in the distributor, and a positive that eventually is routed to the run position (through a ballast resistor of not internal to the coil) of the ignition key. This is presuming 12V negative ground with a stock setup.
