Fuses

In trying to diagnose carb issues on my 1979 F100 Custom, I found my electric choke isn't powering on.

I followed the wire through the firewall and found it trying to get power from the fuse panel.

I am once again at the mercy of needing to find fuses for my truck without spending the time/money to convert it to blade fuses.

Does anyone have a source for fuses for our trucks? I'm to the point where I don't care if it's an expense to buy in bulk as I see with Mustang fuse kits in the $50-$60 range for a handful.

I've tried all the automotive stores. The specific voltages and sizes are atypical to anything found in the F100.

I saw them at either Lowes or Menards in electrical isle if you have 1 of those nearby. However I didn't look over the selection very closely, just made a mental note.

Yeah I saw those too. They're standard glass fuses that don't fit. As an example, I need what appears to be a 6x20mm. Every single fuse kit typically comes with 5x20mm.

Found something that appears to be positively reviewed:

The best solution is rewiring, but this might work in a pinch while I plan things out.

Owners manual lists the fuses, the type and Ford part number. Parts catalogs list all of them with specs.

The fuses have a part number and/or the type like AGW-15 stamped on one of the metal ends.

Ford dealers carry glass fuses, as do auto parts stores and every Ford obsolete parts dealer like Green Sales.

Using part numbers will probably get me farther than I have, so thanks for that. I spent one (and only) Saturday going to AutoZone, Advance, Napa, RadioShack (there's still one in my town apparently), Lowes, and Home Depot, bringing my little 6x20mm 15A/32V fuse with me with zero success. This seems like a silly problem, because all of them sell standard glass fuses. But the fuses under the dash appear to be non-standard. I'll check out the part numbers.

Only luck I’ve had at local parts stores at finding the odd sized ones like the short 15 amp ones are at autozone

Here's an example of a short 15 amp fuse:

Ford part number: D6TZ-14526-A // Industry part number: AGA-15 or 1AG-15 .. Glass Fuse .62" long // Obsolete // No mm's listed in the 1973/79 Ford truck parts catalog.

GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 20 = 800-543-4959

I don't have a good answer. I have been unable to source some of the harder to find sizes. for my '79. I have checked all the local auto parts stores. The only solution I've found is to order large amounts from fuse manufacturers. I would like to eventually do that and create some fuse kits for our trucks that I can resell to help people out. I guess you could always go with the .22lr fuse replacement solution if ordering from dealers and waiting on shipping doesn't work out.
