Experienced an issue with the PAT's system on a 2002 explorer Sportrac, lost comms with Pat's lost all key/FOB (4), programming.
Non of my scanners would access the PAT module (Launch X431, Topdon, Autel MK808 and ThinkCar Pro).
This scanner (XTOOL B8 Bt) accessed and was able to recover and program the 4 sets, albeit with a bit of issues (learning curve). The ford dealer X2 suggested replacing the ECU/PCM-PATs module.. at considerably more $$$
Some Fords have an "infinite key" mode. I think that's what it's called, that can be set through the PATS system. From what I understand, it's intended for fleet and law enforcement where they don't want to have to use a specific key for each vehicle. I've seen the setting in my scan tool but never played around with it or researched it, especially since there's the 10 minute lockout each time I "play" with the PATS programming.
I have a '98 5.0 out of an explorer going into a '64 F100. I have all the Pats components if needed, but if I can disable so I don't have to deal with those, that would be great. I know I can send in the PCM to have it programmed for Pats delete, but might buy a tool like this as I also have another '99 project I just picked up that could use the same treatment. Deleting PATS on two PCMs is a good ways to buying the tool.

The default on the PATs is 8 keys, the infinite setting is to remove the restriction so that there is no limit..
