On my 88 F-150 302 I just did the timing cover. Went to slide the harmonic balancer on, and it slid right on. No tool needed, and no effort. I bolted it on, and torqued it. Looked it up and someone said it needs to be thrown away, but that thread was on a new balancer. This one I’m dealing with is old. They said it can wear out the crank, just looking for some advice what to do. Thanks.
Sorry for posting a lot don’t know much about things like this.
Hit Man X: Is any one aftermarket better than the other? What brands have you had bad luck with?
Im gearing up for the same project so any advice is appreciated.
Guy on the Fordsix page had a Dorman slip almost instantly and begin to fall apart. I have been trying to find a spare for an EFI 4.9 to send out to rebuild as I really do not want to remove mine as the truck works.
Bought a Pioneer for my '88 302 truck. Fitment was sorely loose on crank snout.
The red 7.3 has a Fluidampr and works great. One would expect that considering its pricetag.
Thanks Hitman - mines running too and Im going to keep it that way to monitor my timing cover leak. I want plan A & B in place before I put a wrench on it.
Good luck to you.
