Long crank hard start

Problem began when I let her sit for about a week before this she would start within 1-2 seconds of cranking. Now I have to crank a good 5-10 seconds than she starts but a hard start sometimes I have to crank it for about 20-30 seconds than it will fire. Once she didn’t start at all I cranked cranked it sounds like it was wanting to start but it didn’t. Till I have her a little bit of starting fluid than she started like nothing. It doesn’t matter if motor is cold or hot. trucks runs perfect once started. What’s are some possible causes for this? Bad ipr? Bad icp? What are some other things I could check?
buzz test came back ok
koeo
ipr 15%
icp 6 psi
koer
ipr 10%
icp 6-700

truck has 166k miles just did the oil change fuel filter change all motorcraft.
thanks everyone.

Until you mentioned the shot o' ether, I was thinking it could be the low pressure oil pump (LPOP) coming up small. It charges the high pressure oil pump reservoir. I went through this, where over time it took longer to crank before start. It progressed to full on crank-no-start until I put some oil in the rez. Once started, it rarely gave me problems. The problem always presented itself the longer the truck sat unused.

I'm wondering if your LPOP is just one the edge of delivering oil (like mine was for awhile), and the ether is just enough to speed up the crank to get enough oil in the rez?

Before you start next time, check the level in the reservoir: it should be within a 1/4" or so from the top. If it isn't near full, give it your usual crank time before stopping. Add oil to the rez and try again. If it starts normally, you have likely identified the problem.

#1 don't use ether on engines that have glow plugs. The glow plugs can detonate the ether before top dead center and blow the engine apart. The first place I would look here would be at the glow plugs and there are several approaches that work. Try plugging the block heater in for four hours and see if that helps. Glow plugs should draw your voltage down a volt or more when they are activated so look for voltage drop. And you can jump across the GPR with a large screwdriver and see if that changes anything. If it does, then the GPR is prime suspect.

I’m aware of the dangers of ether lol but considering it’s the first time I’ve used it on that truck in like 5 years I think it will be ok lmao
definitely feel like since it happens even when the truck is warm rules that out.

First, if you're going to use it for any reason disable the glow plugs.

What is your cranking rpm, and voltage?
What is your cranking icp, and ipr?

Glad it worked out. A heads up though: it was a nearly 6+ month deal from the odd-ball longer crank time to "WTF is going on here?", to "a ha, all I need to do is add oil periodically" to "I better sched a LPOP replacement".
