I bought a new turn signal cancelation switch and Grant steering wheel, new LED bulbs in instrument panel.
Everything works as it should. Each time i take the truck out, After about 15 minutes of driving, the turn signals stop working. I went out to the truck this morning, everything works as it should again!
What could cause this to be so erratic? I
Two things I would check first is the connection from the turn signal switch to the connector under the dash. Also maybe the flasher. Ghosts are hard to find sometimes but when it quits then check the power on the connector.
I don't think "overheating", but I did have some issues with the cheaper aftermarket cancelation part after swapping on in in that the plastic flexed enough that the contacts didn't contact reliably and at times, my signals didn't work. One of the ones I tried never worked with the wheel in place?
I am still using a better quality aftermarket cancel part which has the cancel extensions missing, still using the "Loud" signal flasher that goes "TikTok - TikToc", but that OEM Ford complete switch I bought is like new, someday I'll swap it in, or else run it for sale. I have since put a new hub adapter on mine and the Grant wheel, but it was the first Grant adapter with two pins first broke my original cancel part.
So I found my problem,,, sort of. I bought a new flasher and it was causing the same issues, but when I un-plugged the old 4 way flasher, the turn signals (with the new flasher) worked great.
I bought a 2nd new flasher for the 4 ways and re-introduced the initial problem. I'm guessing something is shorting out on the "4-way flashers" wire or plug. I'll look into this next!
