I am in the process of pulling my 302 out of my 1986 F150. I need to change all the gaskets from it sitting for 10 years before I got it. I went through the fuel system last year before I started it. It has ran ok for a year but have been having trouble with the EFI fuel system. I have read and check all that I can and still not happy so while it is out it's going back with a carb. I know all I need to do but my question is I had some intake bolts near the water jacket break off flush. I have tried to remove them before on a older 302 and gave up and changed the heads. What would be a good set of after market heads for this stock 1986 302 be. Thanks'
It is bone stock. I was just going to replace the leaking gaskets. I have tried to fix the efi and so have other shops I have took it to that work on them with no luck. Thank you Dave
If you're not rebuilding the bottom end I'd just pick up a set of used locally. Lap the valves and new seals. There is a set of stock E5s for your '86 on FB Marketplace in Friendville for $125
For what you are doing, I'd go for the original E5TE heads. E7TE are fine and plentiful but with higher compression. E6SE would work fine too.
GT40 heads are popular for higher flow but not as common anymore. Sellers who know what they have generally ask for more money.
Stock, rebuilt heads can be purchased from any parts store.

Sounds good. Thank You I was out taking it all loose under the truck and when I pulled the starter I found a tag showing it's a jasper engine and not the original I thought was in there. The truck sit for 10 years after the owner died so it was put in before then showing around 100,000 miles
go with the smallest CC intake port volume heads you can. The smaller the better for a street engine.
Mine isnt that stock but I have AFR Renegade 165 cc heads with 58cc chambers. They are pricy but they are great heads for smaller Ford engines. They also are the biggest heads you can run in this line up and fit OE flat top pistons with factory valve reliefs.
Personally I wouldnt spend the money on these kind of heads with a pure stock engine, I would source a set of reman heads as you dont need the high flow aftermarket heads if you have a stock low lift cam with stock exhaust.
