I am potentially trading for a 97 F450. It has the16 inch wheels with the 10x7.25 hub of course. I am looking for wisdom regarding wheels on this thing if I go ahead with the trade. With the increase difficulty in getting [and prices] the 16 inch truck tires I am considering trying to adapt to the newer Ford 10 bolt pattern to put 19.5's on it. I am seeing very little in conversions other than Venum. I see quite a bit changing to the 10 bolt heavy truck pattern. My concern is the wear and tear on hubs axle parts putting that big and heavy a tire/wheel on it. Insight is appreciated...

I am not understanding how 16s are more expensive and harder to find than heavy, overpriced 19.5s. A good 10 or 12 ply 16" set of tires has way more load capacity than the 15K GVW of the F-Superduty.
You may find it easier to swap axles from a F450 super duty. This would make it easier and reduce any adapters needed. Then you could run whatever wheels you wanted.
I have adapters on my truck and run 22.5 Alcoas with 37" tires. Bought everything from buytruckwheels.com
