Another chapter in the saga. I noticed something today that was never apparent before, because I had never been behind myself when the truck was running. The brake pedal goes down when the motor is running, and I think this might be the cause of brakes heating up. It's not enough to make the truck come to a stop or even pull to one side, but I think probably creates enough drag to make the brakes heat up.
I never had this problem before, but apparently on an internet search it is not that uncommon with hydroboost conversions, because the power steering box and the hydroboost unit have to share a single return line. I think it can't return fluid fast enough and that causes it to build up too much pressure.
I had changed the routing of the return lines when I put this power steering pump in. Previously I had the return from the hydroboost going straight back to the pump. There was a T in this line, and the return from the power steering box went to the cooler on the core support, back through a filter, and into that same T. So originally my power steering return line had the hardest part getting back to the pump, and now the way I ran it, with both lines into a Y together running to the cooler and back through the filter, everything has a hard time. Some power steering pumps that are made for a hydroboost have 2 return fittings. I see some threads from people with similar problem as mine that say drill a hole in the housing, put a bulkhead in, and you have yourself a second return. I'm considering whether or not this may be the way to go.
Something like this, although I'm not sure I could get down inside the housing to hold one side while tightening the other.
Evening fellas, hope everyone is doing well. Unfortunately Dad passed away very unexpectedly Saturday morning. We had the visitation last night, and funeral today. Definitely has not been easy, and taking it one day at a time, but we are trying to look after mom as best we can, while also grieving ourselves.

Hey Larry, my condolences to you and your family. I went through it myself a couple of years ago. It's still very weird to realize he's gone. How is your mom holding up?

She's doing okish, trying to keep her surrounded right now.
Pulled the old truck apart the other day because I couldn't get it to turn rpms like it should. Also had issues last weekend where it wouldn't idle great, and died everytime you put it in gear. Pulled intake and found it loose, not sure if I never tightened it fully or after heat cycles it had loosened or what. Anyways new gaskets and put it back together. Haven't ran it super long yet, but did run it long enough to set idle and timing. It idles alot better and actually took throttle... so now to bolt it all back together and hope for the best. I really want to make some passes next weekend at Little doo.
Oh I recruited some good help on the reinstall also...
Would it have been easier to get a taller step than let the air out of the tires so she could reach
Good to hear it was not something more than a loose intake (we hope)

Added a "new to us" vehicle to the fleet at my house. Now that the wifey has gotten her self guardianship rights restored she can now go after getting her drivers license. Was hoping to wait a little longer before getting her something. But this came across the lot at work and couldnt pass it up.
2015 Ford Edge Titanium with only 36k on the odometer. Just was services when it hit the lot so its got New tires, brakes, engine and cabin air filters, fresh oil change, new wiper blades. And the water pump was just replaced (thats $2000 repair by itself because its the internal water pump).
Im going to have to post pictures later. Because apparently i gotta change the phototype before i can post them. The ones i took from the website the uploader here doesnt like the file type.

Haha with a lift and 38s it's much easier to just let air out the tires to reach, even for me 😂
