On a better note... finally figured out why its being so harsh on parts I believe. Turns out the wrong retainers were used on the valve springs when they were installed. My springs are doubles with a damper, and instead of the retainer setting inside the inner spring like it should, it was riding on top of it, that put enough extra pressure on the inner spring it wad maxing it out causing coul bind and slamming everything.
And yesterday I picked up a engine for the start of another project. Going to bring a little truck out of retirement for my daughter to play with.
I take it the motor has to come apart to get all them little rollers out before being sucked up into the oil pump and causing more issues.
Is that a AMC six?
I dont know of any others that used a straight six and EFI and the intake / dist were they are.
Or is it a Toyota motor?
Lets see a picture what it is going in.

Dave - You are right, did not see any other trucks there. Yours generated a lot of interest. Everybody has a memory of owning one back in the 80's. I stayed for at least an hour after everyone else, was a long wait for lunch, and then after lunch I kept talking to that Mustang guy. I was supposed to leave my house at 2pm to head down to see my granddaughter and I got home at 1:50, so I was cutting it close. lol
I have a CDL driver lic. and last year they changed how the doctors fill out the papers when you go for (for me) yearly check up, it is normally every 2 years.
Because I have a issue with 1 of my eyes I have in the past needed a state wavier when getting my check up.
This meant I needed special eye tests to send into the state.
Well with the change the state no longer gives out the waver, government dose now and the doctor should have known this and did not.
He did not fill out the paper work right, he checked off 2 boxes that should not of been checked.
Because of this I now dont have a lic. to drive ANYTHING!
The state said I need to get a new check up and make sure the boxes are not checked off.
Thing is only doctors that are on a DOT list can do the check ups and there has been times I have gone and the doctor was not in that day.
I tried calling the place to see if a DOT doctor was on duty and was on hold for 45 min.
Did I say I cant drive ANYTHING? so its not like I can drive to Cary to see and if the doctor is not there come a different day.
I also got to hope the doctor now knows what has to be done and also hope I dont have more paper work for the government wavier to be filled out.
I also had to tell work I dont have a lic. so cant work till I have this all taken care of.
Bet that made them happy ....... NOT!
The plan is by next year to retire so I dont have to go thru this BS.
Oh and if that is not enough we have work being done in a bathroom and found the floor rotten with mold so got people in to take care of the mold before anything else can be done.
When it rains it pours and we had enough of that this weekend

Thanks for letting me vent
Dave ----
If you need anything I am only 5 miles away. A ride somewhere or pick something up for you etc. I work all night and sleep all morning but I am usually up and about by lunch time.
You almost can't blame the doctor for not being able to keep up with policy changes, however, if he is one of very few specific doctors who coordinates with the DOT you would think he would keep himself apprised of changes like this!
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
(whisper mode on) I had a 8:30 apt with the Dr. who filled out the papers wrong and I am driving ..... got to do what you got to do
Because he has to do his thing then I got to fax the papers to DMV and the board looks it over it may be a week or 2 before I get my Lic. back

(whisper mode off) Saturday should be fun between the Princeton show and Sue's party LOL
This is the last year I should have to deal with this crap and if we had the money now I would not be dealing with it as I would retire!
Dave ----
After on hold for 45 min. they tell me they will not know for 72 hours when it is entered into the system!
I told them that is another 72 hours with out a Lic. or a job.
If they did not get them they also would not tell me as they did not know I sent them.
They said there was nothing they could do

I faxed them at work and I told them what was going on.
1 of the dispatchers said he bet I wished was retired.
Told him if our nest egg did not go in the crapper like everyone else's I would be.
I dont know if he thought I was joking or not ..... I was not LOL

I had this idea to reuse some old lumber sitting ever since we had to tear my sons deck down. It was only about 1 year old at the time so the wood was not in bad shape, but it's been sitting in my yard stacked up for 2 or 3 years and it's not getting any younger. I figured to make Sue & Wayne adirondack chairs as a retirement gift. They came out pretty good, I need to go one more coat of paint on the seats and arms but I will do that later today.
Did I say we are having 1 of the bath rooms, got 2.5 baths, remodeled?
Well when the contractor got it pulled apart he found and shower drain leaked and caused rotten wood and mold.
He then had to call in someone to take care of the mold last week so it will not be a problem for us or anyone down the road.
Today the plumber showed up and he found about 10K worth of Issues in the craw space.
That is above the remodel job that was already called for and covered.
We kind of knew there were issues. Most of the copper pipe was replaced before we bought the house with this plastic pipe other than in the walls.
Still have some cast iron drain pipe with PVC patched in and some of that was not done right or the cast is showing signs of leaking.
The hot water heater is going on 10 years old and he said they last about that long and should be replaced.
So now is the time to take care of it all being some of the walls are open and the plumber will be in the craw space.
As the plumber said we should not have to worry about this while still living LOL
He11 it's only money right LOL

I made the chairs out of leftover wood.
Pressure washed some pieces so I could determine what was usable and what wasn't. This pile you see here is one out of three that I had cleaned up.
Cut them into the size pieces I needed and stacked in such as way that they could dry out.
Built a jig of sorts where I could set up the base to the height I wanted.
The first "test chair" was too low, or at least that was my wife's opinion. Other people seem to prefer the lower chairs though.
These two I built a couple inches higher at the knee, makes it easier to get in and out. 2 coats of kilz and 2 coats of exterior white.
At their new home, Sue and her sister Linda enjoying a minute in the shade.
*Note; Wayne is not the in the picture because he's busy. Her first weekday as a retired person and already had him doing mulch all the way around the house, the garden, and the workshop, PLUS she had him in the yard on the 210 side burning a huge pile of cut up trees from the storm that passed through back in October. This was only lunch time and she had a lot more planned, naturally I left as soon as I could lest she put ME to work as well
These are pretty big, I think 32 diameter and 14.5 inches wide.
