I'm rebuilding the steering column on my 66 F100. The prior owner disconected the horn button and added an auxillary button on the side. My question is this, do I need two horn brushes? One for the steering wheel and one for the socket under the steering wheel The only diagram I've seen was in a catolog and they only showed one brush. It wasn't very clear asa to were it went. Any help on this will be appreciated.
Thanks Cajunbull61

I'm in the same process of rebuilding (correcting) a 1966 F-100 steering column. The PO removed the guts, including the horn brush, when he installed a small steering wheel and added a horn button under the dash. From what I remember from my old '69 F-100 years ago there is only one horn brush. The brush should be located in the plastic turn signal housing mounted in the steering column collar. From here it should transfer the power to a horn ring mounted to the steering wheel and on to the steering wheel horn button. My manual doesn't have a very good diagram but I'm going from previous experience from about 15 years ago when working on my '69. Hope it works for you. I'm still trying to figure out why I don't have power to my horn, turn signals and brake lights.
My '65 250 has two brushes. One goes in the turn signal switch assembly and makes contact with the steering wheel. One goes through the steering wheel and makes contact with the horn ring.
