Horn Buttons Horn Rings ???

From 61-70 how many different horn buttons and horn rings are there? Were there differences between custom cab Sport custom Ranger's and Ranger XLT'S?
Does anyone have pictures of correct horn buttons and horn rings?
Nice shiny horn rings vs. dull horn rings, what did they come on?
Horn buttons, shapes and center emblems what goes with what?
I will be posting this in the 67-72 forum also.
Pictures would be a big help.
This should apply to the three spoke steering wheel.

Tried to post pic's of my father-in-law's 100% original F-250 which he purchased new, but I can't figure out how to post them. URL...? Don't have URL, when the pic's are in my file....can't find Q&A section on the website to assist. I was, however able to download them to a photo album. Will be selling the original (innie??) hubcaps and some other items from this truck when I get around to upgrading and getting it running.
Thanks,

That horn ring is chrome in resonateur's photo album. That '66 F250 Ranger I picked up in Murrietta has same ring and is an automatic (COM originally, now a C6)

Here's the '66 F250 4x4 horn button that was used with the 4 spoke steering wheel. It's a stainless steel and not chromed as a best guess. The service replacements I've seen NOS don't have the "Product Of Ford Motor Company" on them, just the center "Ford" logo.

There are two different horn buttons:

1961/65 F100/250 4WD, 1961/66 F350/1100 & 1966 F250 4WD use a different horn button (C1TZ-13A805-D) than...

1961/70 F100/250 2WD & 1966 F100 4WD (C3TZ-13A805-C) - This horn button uses C2DZ-13A809-A nylon retainer that was also used on the horn ring.

*Circa 1968, FoMoCo obsoleted the previous horn buttons with 'product of FoMoCo' center emblem, replaced w/a new horn button with the Ford logo. The IDIOTS kept the same part numbers!

1961/66 horn buttons are chrome, as are some 1967's, but: Circa late 1967, early 1968, FoMoCo painted the horn buttons and horn ring a flat grey to reduce glare. There is NO chrome under that paint.

In 1981, I bought one a these painted horn rings, began to strip off the paint.

Could we see some pictures? Here is how.

But I got ta say becoming a supporter is the fastest and easiest way to post pics right from
your whatever pad/cell thing or home computer.
Few of us look in the users Gallery or album as you can see by your recent visitors.

It seems awkward, but whenever you "insert a picture" to one of these threads, the forum is looking for the picture somewhere on the web (which is always available) rather than from somewhere on your hard drive (which isn't always available).

Go to Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket and sign up for a free account. Then create an album for your truck. Upload any pics you want to post on FTE to that album. Have this album open on your computer when you want to post pics on FTE.

While you're making a post on FTE, select the pic you want to post from your Photobucket album. When the large version of the pic is open, right mouse click on it and select "View Image Info". The image info will be highlighted and will look something like this:
The best photos and videos | Photobucket

Copy that highlighted info (right click / copy).

When you have the spot in your post where you want the pic to be placed, select the "Insert Image" icon at the top of the post (looks like a mountain) and paste (right click / paste) the image info you copied in the highlighted box (just shows "http://" when it opens).

Your pic will be placed in the post.

Hope that helps.

Here's a tutorial Bob put together: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/67...-pictures.html Bob's link is not working. Can someone in the know tell me why?

How to upload pictures to the FTE Forums. - YouTube. Thanks Sam Rusty_Old_F250. Best we can find is that this video was done by Gundown64

Thanks for the detailed explanation. Really helps an analog guy like me!!
I tried the copy/paste option and also the "manage attachments" option. The latter resulting in much larger images.
Regarding more interesting subject for others...my pa-in-law never did anything to this truck, except change the oil. It's completely original, down to the original owners manual and seat covering...what's left of it. Still has the retainer-ring steel wheels and bias plys. I'll have to make some changes (unfortunately) to suit my purposes.
Thanks again for your help.

"Gear and lighting bolt" used between 1961 and 1963 ( also some very early built '64s) and "product of Ford motor company" used between 1964 and 1966. Ford oval only used between 1967 thru 1970.Standard cabs used only the horn button, custom cabs used horn button and ring. All these horn button are all interchange able between the 1961 thru 1970 2WD F 100- F 250 steering wheels. 61-66 F 350 and 4X4 ( except 66 F 100 4X4) used the larger flat horn button and will not interchange. "Gear and lighting bolt" and "product of Ford motor company" followed the same year applications as 2WD pickups. I believe 1965 was the last year of the horn rings on F 350's and most 4x4's

My window cranks are chrome and have some pitting on them
My door latch release handles are chrome and have some pitting on them
My AM radio faceplate is chrome and has some pitting
My coat hook is chrome and has some pitting
Even the instrument bezel has some chrome and it is pitted

But, the horn button has zero pitting. That is some impressive chrome considering that everything else that is chrome has pitted.

CamperSpecial65 sees them on rigs at the junkyards but agrees he has never seen one pitted or rusted at all and believes them to be brushed stainless, also.

So, this seems to be an exception to the chrome rule.
