1953 Ford F700, Big Job Dump Truck
I recently purchased a 1953 F700 Big Job Dump Truck. My goal is to make it road worthy so I can use it around my home. Where can I get more information regarding these heavy duty trucks? Are there web sites, shop or owners manuals available? There are obvious differences between it and my 55 F100.

Welcome to FTE! A shop manual has all the info for the f-100's through the largest trucks they made so I'd advise to get one. There are brochure's on ebay all the time for the big trucks, that should help. I have a few "factory photo's of 53's big jobs let me know and I will scan them. By the way, is a snub nose as well? -4speed

Welcome, I help a friend maintain his "fleet" of 53-56 F600 thru F800 dump trucks, up to and including installing a PowerStroke diesel.
I "own" that diesel 55 F600 when it comes time to plow snow.
The 53 F600 has a 6 but a truck built 341 Lincoln will be going in soon.
Which engine is in your 53?

Thanks mr4speedford and 286merc. Any information or pictures would be great. My truck has a flathead 6 with a 4 speed transmission and a 2 speed rear. The body is in surprisingly good shape. Unfortunately, the head is laying on the seat inside the truck cab, so I have no clue what may be wrong with the drivetrain. The truck is not a snub nose, the cab and hood appears to be identical to my 55 F100, the fenders appear to be longer at the bottom. How rare are these trucks? Does anyone know how many were produced? I know you can get all the information for the F100's, what about the big jobs? Are there any websites that you know of? Are parts still available (brakes, hydraulics, etc)?

Some parts are still out there, NAPA is often a good source.
Drums vary depending on Budd or Dayton wheels. Dayton hub and drum assemblies were used 48-57 on F7 F700 and 57-62 on the C600.
M/C is a standard 1 1/2" bore used across many makes.
Any truck shop can reline the shoes.
As with a lot of Ford interchangability between car and pickup brakes the interchanges are not listed but often all it takes is a bearing change or a minor machine shop trip.
Big Trucks should be similiar .
