My mechanic did a tranny fluid and filter last year on my 1996 4.9 300 E40D 4x4. I thought he used a ford filter but I just found out that he used a PUREZONE 6-58968 filter kit. Has anyone used this filter and are they any good. Tranny has been working great but I don't drive the truck alot because of gas prices.I have a 4cyl Sebring that gets double the mileage. But I probably put 8 thousand km a yr on the truck . The fluid still looks great. Just thought I would see what the pro's on here think.
I'd just run with it...and, swap it out at the recommended fluid change interval.
Maybe, the real takeaway...is you need to be more "directive" with your mechanic, going forward. Perhaps, supply the parts yourself (assuming mechanic will work that way).
While I am a fan of quality filters...many people run junk filters and the highways are not littered with trucks waiting to be towed. But, not changing out the Purezone filter on time could make a so-so decision into a bad idea.

ok thx. I will just leave it alone until the 100000km. Unless a reason comes up beforehand.
