External Tranny Filter

When you change the external tranny filter, do you loose alot of fluid? I want to replace mine, but am wndering if I'm going to take a bath in fluid, if I remove it?
Any help would be appreciated.

Are you talking about the OEM external filter or something like the Dieselsite external filter? Unless you're going to try changing it while the truck is running I don't think you'll loose much. I would think a quart at most would make up any loss you would have. I changed the OEM filters when I put the M-H tranny pan on and installed the Dieselsite filter on mine. Do you plan on doing a fluid flush or just changing the filter?

If your careful you won't get any on you and you will loose 1/2 quart max. Small filter. Piece of cake to change. Not even worth opening a beer unless you just want to.

I didn't add any fluid when I finished mine. It was black which means it did its job!
