My radio screen takes a minute or so to come up and navigation is in and out. Ford says that a upgrade of navigation may work or replace the modular at $2000 plus labor. Any suggestions?
Is the basic head unit 'up to date' ? I would start there, then follow that with a master reboot of the system. My last option would be a new head unit (apim). And if I did that, there are many available aftermarket, a whole lot cheaper than the Dealer.
If you decide to change the entire unit be sure to contact Ford to let them know the new ESN. My unit was replaced on my 2018 prior to me purchasing it. I didn't know the unit had been replaced and when I tried to update the Maps and Nav data the file sent to me from Ford did not match the ESN that was related to my VIN and it took weeks for me to get it straightened out with Ford and I finally had to carry the truck to the dealership to get the new maps loaded at an additional cost of $80. Once they did that the new ESN number was linked to my VIN.
IT IS AN APIM ISSUE.................. Ford refuses to admit to having this issue AGAIN. They did a recall previously on fusions and excursions I believe. Replaced APIM on both trucks.
