E4OD Input Shaft
TLDR; Should I be able to rotate the input shaft by hand when the transmission is out and on the shop table?
My transmission was puking atf out bellhousing. I dropped transmission and replaced the torque converter and front seal. Reinstalled and still leaked so I took it to Aamco. I know it just needed like two/three more parts to fix but I wasn't up to dropping it on my legs again etc. Aamco's master tech is sick so they're doing "their best". They've had it a week today so I stopped by to see what's up. They're concerned input shaft won't spin by hand. I don't think it's supposed to because when I was putting torque converter on it never did for me. I told then to proceed but just wanting a second opinion. Which I thought Aamco was for lol

My reading states it should not turn by hand. If it is not inserted all the way and the splines are not meshed it will turn. It can be removed by hand.

If the input shaft doesn't turn by hand (it WILL take a little effort) once the pump is bolted down, then the transmission is "stacked" incorrectly.
Yes, the shaft should come out, go in, and be able to turn with the transmission assembled.

I have never heard anything good about Aamco. I do understand it is a franchise and ever shop has different employees but if they do not know, then why are they open for business?
The shaft should turn by hand, as mentioned above, it will be hard and if you are a snowflake, you may need to get some manly man to turn it.
