Is there a place to purchase just the sheath and wire cable for the 1979 truck hood release. My locking mechanism is intact and works fine. I just need the sheathed cable. Thanks!
No OEM repop parts for that, that I know of. The locking hood latch used on 1973/79 F100/350's & 1978/79 Bronco's is the same. The locking hood cable is the same as 1975/80 Ford Granada/Mercury Monarch. Maybe try a newer 80's, early 90's Ford without the locking release part. Or try a motor cycle shop that can make custom cables. The one off a van will probably be to short.
I can confirm the one off a van is too short. I got a NOS one by accident thinking it was for a truck. It came with a brand new lock cylinder and keys, so it was still worth it. For now, I have a release cable from an 80's model and it works fine. I have thought about replacing the cable part, but it hasn't made it the project list yet. It has been done before though.
