Found a good deal on a 1993 f250 5.8 5 speed ex. cab 4x4 f250. I have a 79 f250 4x4 351M 4 speed that has been sitting. 93 body is rough, 79 is sentimental. Not worried about fuel injection, i know what it would take to carb this engine. Would obs bell housing bolt to t18 trans in 79 model? would 5 speed bolt to 79 transfer case? Would whole swap from obs to 79 be difficult? Just wanting to have a work truck, would be better to just buy the 93 and use it. 351M ran fair when it was parked, new clutch with less than 200 miles. Just kind of looking at what i could do.
Yes, was wondering if the bellhousing from 351w from a 5 speed would mate up to the t18. In other words, could i swap the 351W, bellhousing and all into the 79 using the 79 transmission.

no the bellhousing is integral in the 5 speed so you will need to find an older bellhousing for the 4 speed that is Windsor pattern
You could probably do an entire drivetrain swap easy enough. But, figuring out the hydraulic setup for the clutch in the 93 transmission would be tricky. I did a 91ish body and bed swap onto a 1980 truck years ago. But i believe the 79 would be one generation too old for swapping it to the 93 frame to go that route.
As stated before if you could find a 460 truck with a 5 speed that would bolt to the 351M.
The M (150ish hp) is handicapped by 70s era emissions though, i feel a 93 W ( 180ish hp) would walk all over it. But i think you need new mounts to put a W in the place of the M. Personally, if it were sentimental to me, i would look for a 460 zf5 and put a 400 in place of the M. But i dont know what plans you have.
