Speedometer Issues
99 E350, Speedometer climbs from 0 to 40mph close to normal, (as vehicle continues to speed up) than kinda hangs there for a wile, and than starts to drop down to 30 or so, than drops to 0, as vehicle reaches 70 mph. Odometer reads as it should, and the cruise control works as it should even when the speedo shows 0. Bad stepper motor??

I did a 4x4 swap on this thing, so the speedo is driven off a different sensor than the stock trans now. I added a Dakota Digital converter to get the speedo to read spot on. Never had a problem until the Battery went dead one day. But I checked out the Dakota unit, and that isn’t faulty. So I was thinkin the stepping motor.
if the VSS was bad, wouldn’t the CC act up and not hold a steady speed?
If I swap clusters I am looking at getting one with a tach. Have to change pin outs but supposedly can use a Superduty one in the Vans.
