Quick question. I have a 2001V 10 excursion 168,000 miles on it. I had it undercoated from the dealer when I bought it new in 2000 cost 300 and change I haven’t got under totally to inspect how rusted things are under there. I do have a rocker panel that’s rusted out.. this shop just did the fluid film treatment on my sons new Chevy pick up and offered me a good deal on doing my truck plus the vibration treatment to knock off any old rust that’s existing. The shop owner supposedly rolled his eyes when my son told him that I had Ford undercoat it saying it would make it that much more difficult to apply the fluid film. My basic question is at this point is it worth it having this done? The guy said the old rust proofing used to keep the moisture in causing more rust..
The other issue is that it has to be re-done every year.
Adding short video taken from passenger side. not sure if I see any under coding but maybe it’s mostly flaked off in 22 years. The black areas might just be paint.

My .02 cents. If the factory undercoating is dry then you can install the fluid thin film coating over and definitely coat it heavy enough. I use CorrosionX Heavy Duty for the underside. You'll be just fine if you keep the moisture from getting under the factory undercoating.

thanks for your reply. I wouldn’t be doing the application myself. I would have this shop do it that specializes in applying that fluid film treatment I was just wondering if it’s worthwhile givin the age of the truck
