76 f-150 brake problems

I’ve got a 76 f150 with a 390
front brakes start to drag and eventually lock up after about 10 mins of driving.
I’ve already replaced, front calipers, pads, proportioning valve, booster.
just ordered new lines for the front.
I’ve got good bleed on them already, and they work amazing until they don’t..
any ideas?

Did it start before you replaced the master or the booster ?

how did you set the pushrod length when you got the new booster installed? sounds like it may be slightly applying the brakes then they start heating up and eventually get tighter...if replacing the front brake hoses doesn't fix the issue, I would check the pushrod.

Is it a 2wd or 4wd? If 4wd it has three front brake hoses, one to each wheel from a tee on the axle, and the third from tee up to frame. This third hose could develop an internal flaw that would block return of pressure and hold front brakes applied. It could happen to the other two hoses, but often it only does one at a time there.

X2 With tbear.
The old rubber hoses collapse on the inside and sometimes act like a check valve.
While they are locked up, remove the rubber hose to see if they release.
I always put a rag around the fitting as fluid will probable be under pressure.
My .02 worth..

it started after sitting for a couple years, I put the new booster on it before I had an accident in it. Then after I got it back on the road it was fine for a couple months then started doing this

In that case the rod between the master and booster is fine if it used to work. booster and master are probably good, though if they're older and have sat you can't rule them out.

A hose could be the problem , though in all the years with all the rigs I've worked on I've yet to see it. but you could try replacing them.

What releases the brakes when they lock ?

You could do a quick test to check the brake lines by pumping the brakes all the way to the floor while it's running half a dozen times and then try to roll away. If its the lines they will stick or drag.

I had a line collapse on my Ford Class C motorhome. I was in the middle of nowhere. I vise gripped that side and took it easy for the remainder of my trip and fixed it when I got home.

I've had both front brake hoses collapse on a trip to Indiana once. Right side the first day, take wheel off and pry pads off rotor. Was I smart enough to replace both, noooo. Next day left side. I'm just lucky that way.

Next time you could open the bleeders and see if it frees up.
If so then fluid is not going back to the master and more checking is needed.
If you think it is the push rod you could loosen the master nuts some to add some gap between rod and master.
