Hi all, I've got an 09 150 with an 8' bed that is rusting away. Clean replacements by me are hard to find, and around $2500. That's expensive for a guy like me. F250 8' beds are more readily available and cheaper. So my obvious question is, can I swap a f250 bed onto my f150? Has anyone done this? Does it look OK? Does filler door match up easily? I'm not looking for perfection, just functionality.
Thanks for any help.
The best way to find out is to park next to a Superduty with the long bed. That way you can visually see the panel lines. What you also need to figure out is if the bed rails are in the same place and the bolt locations line up. For your truck you can use a bed up to a 2014 F-150, doesn't have to be an 09. Knowing Ford waits 2 MY between the 1/2 ton and medium trucks, you would look for a 2011-16 superduty, preferably gas, though the filler mount should be identical, you just have the extra holes for the DEF filler.
The cabs should be identical in dimensions which means the beds should align, but I am not certain the body lines between the two are the same. I do know the cab from my 2018 F-150 would drop right in place on my F-450 since they are the exact same size, from the firewall forward though, completely different. I don't know if the firewalls are identical though.
Anyway good luck finding anything in steel, there are plenty of 17+ beds, but the older steel ones are few and far between and not that great of shape either.
