A friend of mine (owns an operating cattle ranch) and his Excursion is have fuel guage problems. The X ran out of gas, even though the fuel guage was reading at 1/4 level. If your ready for this, the dealership reported back, after receiving (allegadly) a response from "Ford", that the problem was the "slushing" of the fuel in the tank.
Has anyone heard of such a failure, resulting in the guage reading a feul level, but actually running out of gas.
I had the same problem and the delaership changed the fuel pump before figuring out it was the sensor int he tank that was faulty. they changed this and fixed problem.
My Excursion is exactly the opposite. After driving 200 miles it reads 1/4 full. But I know damn well there's still 20 gallons in the tank rather than 10 or 11.
I think when I get to empty I will still have 8 to 10 gallons in the tank. But I will probably never let it get below 1/4 tank anyway.
