400 Engine perches

Met with my friend yesterday and discussed options. His goal is a strong and reliable restoration for his son. He would like to see 400HP.
In the end we settled on the 400, as we had it as well as the C6 that came with it.
I recommended to him a good rebuild on the 400 with a roller cam, Tim Meyers pistons, balancing, headers, Edelbrock Performer intake and EFI, and possibly Edlebrock heads
We could use the electronic distributor that came with it, or swap it out, any thoughts?
If you are going with the 400 you need the engine perches from the donor truck. The FE/I6 perches will set the engine too high. Your stock crossmember will work with the C6 but you will most likely have to drill a couple of new holes and have a new driveshaft made. Also, you may need the steering column and linkage from the 78 to match up to the C6. I swapped all the steering and suspension and disc brakes from a 79 to my 65. It is for the most part a bolt in.

Thanks, I was wondering about the engine perches. And I will probably do the steering column swap.

When it comes time to install the column post up in the 61-66 forum several of us have done the swap and can help with the wiring etc. 1961 - 1966 F-100 & Larger F-Series Trucks - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums (ford-trucks.com)
To put a 78 column in a 61-66 you have to use the dash bracket from the original column. I believe these are re-popped now but I just drilled the old one off and swapped it.
