Just Wanting To Learn

I’m 16 and I daily drive a 1997 4wd F250-hd crew cab 7.3 with 130,000 miles (my first truck). I have done general maintenance and I just put on new to me wheels and tires 16.5x12 weld super singles on 33x12.5r16.5 Interco Trxus M/T’s.

I want to learn more about my truck, like what axles do I have, what upgrades should I do, how easy are they to work on, and just general information for a newcomer that has done some research but wants to learn from people who have experience with OBS 7.3’s.

I love working on my truck and tinkering. I’m hoping to get some good advice and some insight to help me with my build.

any pictures of your ride? Getting harder and harder to find a clean obs. Especially with 130k miles!

i give this out to new people.

Welcome to the learning page. There is a lot you can do and a lot that gets expensive fast.

What are your plans with your truck and what would you really like to learn?

where from? maybe one of us is close by or we could start a text group

I’ll take a couple of pictures today don’t have any good pictures just videos. It was my uncles ranch truck and he didn’t take care of it but I’m trying to make it nice for myself.

Dana 50 up front for a F250
Dana 60 up front for a F350

Sterling for the rear.

prior years had dana 60 rear Drums have integral hub in them and have to remove axle to remove drum or sterling for upgrade which drum slides off of hub

My plans with the truck is to build it perfectly to my liking. I’m designing a 4 link air suspension that I’m going to build with my buddies. I want to install a hydra tuner with 50% injectors and an electronic fuel system soon. Eventually I’m going to get a bank’s powerpack with all the goodies, currently a money issue.

I’m from Northern California about an hour South of Sacramento.

I’m looking to learn general information a 7.3 owner should know. I’ve been working to get some money to build the truck. I want to learn what I should upgrade first like what oem parts to replace before I go crazy with performance engine/transmission upgrades.

Welcome, these guys are helpful. I'm from SF bay area just an hour away. Be careful or shall I say be aware of the performance upgrades here in California with their state laws.
check out 1023 diesel and their YouTube videos. They have a lot of information about performance upgrades and how to do it right and applying the correct parts for your needs.
I too am looking to get a hydra tuner, stage 1 turbo and injectors but realizing living here may be an issue.

Ya I’ve been researching the laws but my truck is registered in Amador County which has very very vague regulations on trucks if I were you I would check it out it’s very easy to get registered there.

If you don't want to see exposed lug nuts buy a set of rear after market hub covers and 32 OEM sized lug nuts and screw them over your existing ones and your wheels will be the ****, just like mine
