76 window regulator?

My 76 Highboy has the regulator with bolts in the original passenger door. My drivers side door is off of a 78 truck with the rivets for the regulator. Getting ready to rebuild and cleanup the doors and was wondering if I can order a new regulator for a 76 driver door with bolts to get rid of the rivets? And I'm assuming these rivets have to be drilled out?

Thanks

Rivets?

I thought they all use 3 bolts. If riveted, might have been replaced. In any event, surely they use the same 3 holes.

It appears that they switched to rivets in 78.

Yes you can drill out the rivets and bolt one in. It’s a whole lot easier if you weld nuts on the regulator. You can also just bolt in the current one, if you are just removing it for clean up.

X2 on drill out rivets, O have seen both rivets and bolts used in trucks. If I had to replace one I would go back with bolt/nuts in case you have to adjust it any. Not that you will really have any adjustment room. But just in case. Besides those are big rivets.

Yes you have to drill out the rivets. I've replaced the window regulators on a 78 and 77.5, both had rivets that had to be easily drilled out. The replacement regulators came with small bolts and nuts.
Make sure you buy a few door panel plastic push things, circular. I usually break a few when removing the door panels but I bought a pack of 50 for about $10 on Ebay.

Good call 78f150 Ken. Harbor Freight body door/body panel pliers can save you a busted door panel. https://www.harborfreight.com/panel-...ers-63699.html
Most auto parts stores have the door panel puh pins. I like the GM ones bigger and longer. You might have OEM metal one's trash can them.

Remove the finger cup 2 screws, then the door latch opening screw (1). Remove the window crank 1 screw and the handle. Do not loose the plastic disk under it, and or the spring when the door panel comes off.

If you have these the pliers can safe you from breaking your door panel.

8 places hold the door panel to the door. Notice I am missing the middle one completely. Dang metal clips....
