Okay so I took off my door panel to check what was going on with my window and I discovered the teeth on the large gear are all worn down which causes my window crank to slip and its difficult to roll up my window. My question is, how easy is it to get that out and how do you do it? I was going to replace my doors due to cancer so would it be best to just by a complete door from a junkyard, or is it easy enough that I can pull the guts out and save to door swap for another day? The vehicle is a 76 f-250 and its got three bolts I believe that holds that assembly to the door. Thanks.
That entire assembly is called the window regulator, and it's not a big deal to pull. Mine was actually held on with three rivets, not bolts. Just make sure you hold on to the glass from the bottom when you free the regulator from the door. While you're holding the glass, you can slide the regulator wheel out of its channel, fish the regulator out of the sheetmetal, and then gently set the glass down inside the door. I put new regulators in both of my doors and this time I used bolts.
Yep, my tabs are long since gone, I think it still has one, so my door is held on by self threading screws, haha definitely a hillbilly way to do it but it works!
Now one other question, are the window regulators the same in all dentsides? Meaning if I pick one out of a random truck in the yard will I have to worry about there being two or three different possiblities?

D8TZ1023200A .. R/Side Window Regulator
D8TZ1023201A .. L/Side Window Regulator
Fits: 1973/79 F100/350 / 1978/79 Bronco.
Both these regulators are obsolete, tho I did find some new ones at Ford dealers.
Normally, I'd post the info on who has them...but the last MSRP was $301.97 each!
EDIT: I just called one of the dealers that has them....their price is $78.94 for either side, and these are new originals.
