Doesn't hurt to have aftermarket EGT / Trans Temp / Boost gauges. Edge Tuning makes some nice modules that will display a ton of metrics that come from the OBD port as well.

Edge monitor is a great alternative to your pillar gauges. You can select from over a dozen different gauges and it olugs into the OBDII.
I bought the monitor case that holds the monitor panel in the corner of the dash next to the A pillar with velcro tabs. In addition, I installed a rear view camera that the Edge displays when I go into reverse.
