Radio Codes
Just bought 4 cyl 2012 Escape XLT. Plan to do electrical work and want to disconnect battery first. Does anyone know if this model Escape uses a radio code? If so, is there any way to find the code before disconnecting the battery.

I have a '12 with the 3.0L, but the rest of the vehicle is the same as yours. I have replaced the battery a couple times and never had the need for a radio code.
Were you planning to change the radio? I would think that might require a code, but simply removing the battery shouldn't cause an issue. Never has for me.

Thanks, I'll go ahead & disconnect the battery. On my 2008 Accord I have to enter a code to get the radio to work again after disconnecting the battery so I thought the Escape might have a similar requirement.

Honda is the only manufacturer I’m aware of that currently requires an anti-theft code for the OEM radio after a battery disconnect.
I’ve seen a couple of aftermarket radios that had the same feature, and some GM vehicles had them in the 1990’s to early 2000’s.
FYI if you’re ever not sure, the owners manual and supplements is a good place to start.
