Any and all opinions welcome. I'm doing a 351 to 460 swap.I already have 5 month old true dual 2.5" exhaust with shorties from my 351 on my 87 F-250. I want coated long tubes for the new engine. My question is, Which brand do you think is the best out there? I'm thinking L&L.... Thanks, Dan
Dan, I also have an 87 f250 and have done some research on headers for my truck. It already has the 460. Everyone I've talked to and a number of people on this site think the L and L's are great. I have also heard awesome things about Thorley's. Personally I've decided to go with the Thorley's but that's just my .02.
I bought the Summit Shorty headers. I did notice huge gains but I had to replace the entire exhaust system. The shorties didn't bolt up to my y-pipe like they claimed. Within 3 months they were so rusted they looked 10 years old. With shorties you'll gain mid to top end. Spend the money and buy coated headers you get what you pay for. Later, Dan
Summit headers are notoriously crappy. When looking for shorty style headers, you really should get 'equal length' shorty headers. Bassani makes a killer set. I have them on my 96 351. Perfect fit and great performance gains. Most manufacturers havent spent the time or money to make equal length (I know bassani has, and I believe JBA as well...both the industry leaders). As for the gentleman looking for the 460, L&L is the best choice. Check out www.proficientperformance.com for some comparisons.
