on my 5.8L F250 and stays on while I'm driving. The Driver's manual says that the "Electronic Engine Control System" is not working properly. It later says that there is a possible problem with one of the engine's emission control systems. I assume this means I need to take it to a dealer so he can hook up some kind of diagnostic device to find out what the problem is. My question is, I'm kind of short on cash and I wondered if there was anything I could do short of taking it in. For example, could it just be a PCV valve or something like that? Any ideas or advice would be appreciated!
my 91 f250 5.8 had the same problem a friend ran the codes. I had three problems 1.A bad o2 sensor 2.Ground fault, I had to clean all the engine grounds there are at least four of them. 3. evp (egr vacum preasure regulator)fault,I cleaned the little filter at the bottom. After that the light went out. Check with the small local shops they might run the codes for cheap. good luck
Yeah go to the "Zone " and have your ECU scanned for codes, it will make troubleshooting alot easier. I bought an Actron code scanner for about 30 bucks and it was a very worthwhile invesment. What year is your truck?
Check Engine light on, but Actron reader says code 111
I have a "95 Explorer with a Check Engine light that comes intermittenly. I connected an Actron Sacnner and ran all the tests KOEO and KEOR, etc. After the tests are done I get a code 111, All OK. I'm using a K&N Air Filter. Would that be the cause?
Het thanks 04Aviator. I tried a voltmeter and got a 167. When I disconnected the TP sensor, I noticed it was crudded-up. I cleaned it with contact cleaner and checked the resistance as the book indicates. All checked OK, nice steady changes through the range. The CEL hasn't come back on since. Normally it would come back in immedeately or within 10 miles.
Thanks again.
