Transfer case drain plug

Transfer case drain plug

Taking a look at the transfer case under my truck today. Need to replace fluid. Where can I get the tool to remove the screw/bolt with the square pattern?
It's not a torx or allen key. Can I get this a Autozone or a similar place?

1990 F-150 XLT 5.8ltr

its a 3/8 inch ratchet hole. just pop the ratchet in there and out she comes. hope this helps.

Everyone has one of them days. I did the exact same thing when I started and even did it on an import after I was shown.

I think you folks are talking about the fill plug. If you want to replace the fluid you are going to have to remove the back cover on the transfer case. It is an easy job. Remove all of the bolts except the top one which you should just loosen. Pry the bottom of the cover off with a screw driver. Let the old rear end fluid drain. Remove the cover and clean all of the old RTV off. Clean the mounting surface as well. Put new RTV on the diff cover and replace it. Fill it up with straight 80W90 unless you have a limited slip diff.
