I am replacing the 5.0 in my 1992 F150 Flairside with a 351W. I will be rebuilding the engine prior to the install. I will be retaining the speed density FI for now. The E4OD will be replaced by a M50 five speed. I have been reading information on the forum about good SD compatible cams for the 351W and the Crane 444232 looked like a lot of forum members liked it. I understand that Crane is no longer in business. But wanted to know what available cam would be closest in lift, duration and with equivalent lobe centers. If something is available in a roller that would be better.
I have the valve train from the 5.0 and hopefully the 351 block is drilled for the spider. Heads will be AFR's with 7/16 roller rockers.
The nearest equivalent over the counter roller cam is the Comp 35-349-8, it is a little more agressive but with aftermarket heads the combo will need tuning anyway.

Thank you!!!
Do you think the stock 5.0 ecm will work or do I need a different one?

If the 351 block is not a roller block is there a flat tapped cam equivalent?
Any AFR head and cam combo you stick on there is going to tax the 19# injectors to their limit anyhow. We liked the 444232 because it added performance within the factory fuel systems capability. You're certainly going to need a tune and larger injectors to make that all work together happily. Since you're already going to have to do some amount of tuning, the cam you pick doesn't need to align with the factory tune.

The truck will be a daily driver, looking for a little more go than I had with the stock 5.0. Do you think the GT40 heads and this or an equivalent cam be better for this type of application? The truck will never have to pull any large trailers but may end up with a pop up camper in the bed, but a light one.
I almost bought one of these new in 1992 but was ordering it with a 351W and 5 speed so that is what this one will be upgraded too!
I thought the AFR 1351 heads would be a better choice than the GT40's but if the flow to much I can go with the GT40 heads instead.
To stay within the supply capacity of the stock injectors heads are a step too far, but if you upgrade the cam and do a full exhaust it will be fine.. and yes that motor will be quite a bit more powerful than a '92 5.0

what are the correct injectors for this kind of upgrade, 24lb? Any suggestion for pn's?
Do I need to buy a Tweecer tuner or just have a set of tunes done and add the chip to the ecu?
