Before I begin looking for a 351W, I am trying to determine if a roller cam block is available for the 351. I know that the 302/5.0 had them from 85 (HO) and 91(?) for the standard blocks; did Ford ever make the 351 with a factory roller? I am not interested in the aftermarket conversions due to cost and cam availability; would like to find a block compatible with the factory roller lifters and cam (like the 5.0s). Anybody know about this? Thanks!
My 351 W has Ford Racing high performance hydraulic cam shaft M-6250-A332 and roller rocker arms. Available from Ford Motorsport. Is that what you are looking for?
I am not sure, but I think that is a hydraulic flat tappet camshaft (no little wheels on the lifters!), although the rocer arms are roller. I am trying to find a block set up for a factory roller cam. Maybe it doesn't exist, and only the 5.0 302's are set up for it.
Thanks for the reply-
Yes Ford makes a 351 roller block. Get hold of the Ford MotorSport SVO catalog available from Ford and you will see it in there. I have a 351W with the conversion roller kit and yes the cam selection is definitly smaller but certainly adequate for the street. I have had it for about 3 years now and have had no trouble with it at all.
