I think 94 and later blocks had provisions (bolt holes in the lifter valley for the spider etc.) for a roller cam even though a lot still ran flat tappet cams. The block should have a casting number of F4TE.
Does anyone know when or if the 351W came stock with roller tip rockers. ?
Never did in the regular F Series, maybe with the G1 Lightnings, not sure.

Yes as long as the total lift doesn't exceed 0.500"... maybe even 0.480" to be safe. Valve spring coil bind is the immediate issue, but piston to valve contact is also an issue depending upon cam duration.
Actually the 94 truck with the roller cam was not stock I forgot the guy put it in before I bought it.
The cam I have is a Clevite MC 1775 RV cam with valve lift 448 int/472 exh and duration adv. 270 int/280 exh. So I guess I should stick with the stock 1.6 ratio rockers, so i don't have to worry about clearances with the 1.7's. But I will be getting some roller rockers. Don't know how much they will do for me but I can get a whole set for $100
