Keep blowing same fuse
I'm having another electrical fault on my 2002 F250 XLT, 5.4 L, SCLB.
I keep blowing the F2-45 fuse in the central junction box. Which is labeled in the manual as "ignition switch run/start feed". Symptoms are losing speedo & Tach. and power to the alternator field coils, leaving the truck to run off the battery alone. This is supposed to be a 10 amp fuse, but the previous owner replaced it with a 15 amp fuse, which has not blown twice on me.
Anyone out there have a similar experience and know what could be causing the problem?
Pull the column shrouds and inspect, repair as needed.
Pretty common. Search this and the Excursion keyword "F45" for numerous previous threads.
I have replaced the starter and solenoid on the fender. The battery is fairly new and holds a charge.
The starter wont even turn over.
Currently my gear shift linkage is kinda wonky right now.
before all the electrical issues I could deal with the linkage just don't have park. I could start the truck. I bring this up because someone told me I couldn't start the truck in neutral due to one of the new solenoids.
I was able to place a screwdriver between the two poles on the fender solenoid and get the old starter to turn.
I've already spent $275.00 in parts alone.
any help will be greatly appreciated.
