I've installed them in both directions and only the big end of the door pull (aka arm rests) will screw down and pull flush to the door. The back smaller end won't even get close. I'm not sure if I have some bad parts; they're new door pulls and clips (from MidFifty). These doors are custom cab doors with the slots cut in from the factory. One of the bodyshops removed the original clips. My shop is cold and crowded so I can't lay my hands on the beat up door pulls that originally were on the doors. I've got two sets of door pulls (4 total) none of which work for either door.
I'm hoping it's just a seniors moment but I've tried everything I can think of. The foam on the door pulls does go on top RIGHT?
Sorry, I have a custom cab but mine are already installed so I just painted the door with them installed, they looked like a PITA to me to get installed if I remove them.
If I had to guess I would say the big end goes in the slot first 90 degrees out of normal position and then you turn it to the correct orientation and then snap in the little end but that is only a guess. Big end is on the bottom, I can tell you that at least (unless the PO install them wrong on my door)
I don't know how your putting them in but they get installed so they are recessed in the door. The bottom in your picture goes in the top of the slot and by looking at mine (I just went out and looked at mine in the shed, I'll try to attach a photo) You install it from the inside of the door cavity by putting the 'T ' through the slot, rotating 90 degrees then putting a screwdriver or other appropriate tool through the slot snap the narrow end over the door sheet metal so that is on the outside bottom of the slot
, same as the 'T'. Hope that make sense.
