Drop Down Battery Box ?

Getting ready to mount my drop down battery box. Is there any particular measurements, battery cable routing I need to consider or allow for ?

batteries under running boards are inconvenient to access from the ground...especially with a low truck

just make them long enough that you can let the box down completely without the cable to the solenoic binding.

are you going to put some jumper/charging posts somewhere convenient ??

here's what I did

Good comment above from John. I installed a drop down box attached to the right frame rail. When I went to install the battery into the box, I actually had to use jack stands to raise the vehicle enough to crawl under the running board and use a floor jack to lift the battery high enough t drop into the box. I have jump start posts under the hood in case they are ever needed. They also double as trickle charger connections. My drop down box is from a 2003 Econoline aux battery that was used on very few Econolines.

I also put mine on the inside of the frame just behind the cab on the right side. My charging post are just under the right running board.

Joe, same here... I actually fabbed up a "lift thingy" that attaches to my floor jack to raise the battery/tray up to it's ride position. 75 years and two bad shoulders
and a 40# battery do not work well together.

and ditto on low rides...jackstands are your friend.

I put my charging posts on the front cab mount.. easy to access with full tilt hood.
