I'd like to get one of these generation, SRW, F250/350 rolling chassis to do an engine and body swap on. When i look up certain parts it seems this generation is broke up into '05-'07, '08-'10, and '11+ year groups. The only real differences i can find is the rear frame was redesigned so the '08+ trucks use a longer rear leaf spring than the '05'-07 trucks, the '11+ got redesigned rear leaf springs and could have an E-locker rear and the '15-'16 trucks got a brake size increase. Otherwise they should all be the same Dana 60 front/10.5 Sterling rear between gas and diesels? When i was looking up parts to cross reference, the '11 trucks have different PN's for the front bearings/hub assy, anyone know the differences there? Any other big axle/chassis differences I should be aware of?
I know the 2011+ 10.5 rear differential cases were slightly different. A little extra room had to be made for the e-locker gear.
As for the hubs, maybe just an improved design on 11+. Warn still has the same part numbers for a 2007 truck and a 2012 truck. Per the Warn catalog the spline count didn't change.
I should've said the wheel bearings/hub assy cause that's what i looked up. I was wondering about that, but i was pretty sure the hubs were all 35 spline, at least after '05, IDK about the earlier SD axles. Didn't the wheel bolt pattern change at some point? Was that on the 11+ trucks or was it the next gen trucks? or just the DRWs?
I thought i had read that the diesels having a slightly larger rear spindle/hub/wheel bearing assy, but that might be a totally different axle i looked into...I've read so much about different axles over the last year i have trouble keeping it all straight. I'd rather have a 3.73 or 4.10 axle, but it looks like the4.10 were only available up until '11?
And is there any way to identify the front spring codes with only a VIN without going to a dealer? I've seen a couple chassis for sale where the body was already scrapped, so there's no door sticker anymore to easily ID the springs.
Is the front crossmember different between 2wd and 4wd?
