1951 cable

hello just picked up a 1951 f3 that is pretty solid ordered all new glass and rubber and window felts spedo cable, wipers i know just a start but am not going to completely restore. i like the old look of it the way it. is.there are 2 cables going from the dash to engine compartment, one is the choke cable and i do not know what the other is. it is attached to nothing but goes to the right side of the engine. anyone know what it is? six clyinder flathead

It is a Hand Throttle. Handle should have a "T" if it's original. I don't have a good picture of mine but here is one that I saved during my build. It connects to the bell crank for the throttle mounted on the intake manifold. If needed, I can take a better picture this weekend.

thanks for the reply am i correct in the area i have circled ? why do you think they had a throttle on these trucks ? i will have to check and see if mine has this on the carb.

A manual throttle was standard in F250 and larger trucks in the 53-56 trucks. It was optional in those F100 trucks.

So I imagine it would be the same for 48-52 trucks.

Here are a couple of pictures from the 48-54 Parts manual. I am not sure if they were standard equipment but they are not shown as an option. That cable is not shown in the drawing. It is in the description for F1 (C) through F6 (TH). Looks like standard equipment.

I think all 1948-1952 had manual throttle not sure after that.
