P1728 code, new transmission??
I have recently noticed a flare in RPMs when going into OD. I have threw a code about a month ago that put me into limp mode (OD was blinking and hard shifts). I cleared it not finding out what it was and it ran well for a while. The flares continued when shifting into OD but did not happen all the time. I also started to notice small flares in other gear shifts. I went into limp mode again and brought to a shop to read the code and get some suggestions. The only code was P1728. His scanner did a test and it came bac with a bunch of lines and the top line says to basically replace the transmission. He then took it around the block and reviewed the scanner. Reset and took another drive around the block. When he hit the throttle hard the P1728 code showed up again. He says that my transmission is slipping and recommends a replacement. Before I drop my checkbook into a replacement does all this sound about right or potentially something else? In the end i want to keep the truck to turn over to the kiddos and am not against a new transmission. Any suggestions?
